• Releases: Offensive guard Kendall Simmons, linebacker Mike Humpal, and running back Gary Russel have been released.
• Super Bowl XLIII: The Pittsburgh Steelers beat the Arizona Cardinals to win Super Bowl XLIII. The final score was 27-23. The MVP of Super Bowl XLIII was wide receiver Santonio Holmes. The Steelers are the first team in NFL history to win six championships.
